Trip to Ähtäri Zoo

You’ve probably experienced the Finnish sauna, tried salmiakki, experienced the beautiful nature and maybe even seen the northern lights. But did you ever see any of the wild but shy souls that inhabit our beautiful nature?
Especially during the autumn it’s not a good idea to stand eye to eye with Finland’s national animal; the brown bear. But ESN Vaasa, together with the international offices of University of Vaasa, VAMK, NOVIA, Åbo Akademi and Hanken, offers you the possibility to see about 65 different animal species of the Scandinavian forest zone! A few “outsiders” to this region are also present, such as the highly endangered snow leopard and takin who normally live in the Himalayas. So load up the batteries in your cameras and phones, because it’s bound to be amazing!

We will be leaving on Saturday the 26th of November at 8 am, and arrive to the zoo around 10.00. Usually it takes around 2-3 hours to walk around, depending on how much you want to look at things. There is a cafeteria at the entrance for a snack. From the zoo we’ll take a 30 minute drive to national famous Tuuri Village Shop, the largest department store (https://www.tuuri.fi/en/) in Finland! (They even have a TV show about this place..!) Here we take around 2 hour break for food at your own expense and a possibility for shopping. After this we start home and we are aiming to be home around 18.00.

All of this, we can offer to you for the price of 1 € thanks to our cooperation with the international offices! However, we have a limited amount of spots, so you’ll only get 1 shot for this opportunity!
Ticketsale will be on Wednesday the 9th of November, 11.00-13.00 (or until the spots run out). Important is that you can ONLY buy 2 tickets/queueing (meaning, you can buy 2 tickets, and then you can go to the end of the line and queue again, and if there are tickets left by the time you get to the “counter” the second time, you can buy 2 more).
This ticket sale will be held at 3 points:
- University of Vaasa, Fabriikki lobby
- VAMK at the Lobby of Serveri
- Åbo Akademi outside of Restaurant Alexander.
